This tutorial teaches you how to create a white label application for your Promotion Builder campaign on Facebook. You don't need to be a technical person to follow this tutorial. Anyone with basic computer knowledge can create a white label application to run campaigns. There are two main benefits of using a white label application for your promotion. First, the application name can be customized after your brand name. In other words, the campaign tab on your Fan Page can be renamed to something different than the default Sweepstakes, Contests, Coupons, etc. Second, the application allows you to capture more data analytics on your Fan Page—such as separating statistics for your campaign only—and allows you to preview how your campaign will look when published live, without publishing it to the public. For more information, see the Sandboxing tutorial.

Step 1: Go to the Facebook Developer Page

Make sure you are logged into your Facebook Profile. Then go to the Facebook Developer page (http://www.facebook.com/developers/) and allow access.

Step 2: Set up a New Application

Click on the "Create New App" button at the top right of the page.

Input a display name for your application. This display name will be the tab title. Also include an App Namespace. The namespace should be similar to the name of the campaign itself. For example, if you are running a sweepstakes for the potential to win a puppy you may want to input winanewpuppy (no spaces) for the namespace. Both names are editable after initial setup.

This is the screen you will see once you click continue. Click "Save Changes"

If you want to edit the app icon, the image that appears next to the app on the tab, select "edit icon" and upload a 16x16 pixel image.

Now click on the "Auth Dialogue" tab. This is where you will be able to customize your authorization dialog and preview the new permissions system. You will want to include a logo, headline, description, and privacy policy URL. The description field is a great place to include how you will or will not use an entrants information.

Here is an example of how the authorization dialogue will populate to the public:

Step 3: Paste the Application ID & App Secret Keys

Once you have saved your application settings click on the "Basic" tab under settings and copy and paste the Application ID and App Secret into notepad. Keep this information handy. You will need to enter these codes into your Wildfire Promotion Builder account.

Go to http://www.wildfireapp.com and login to your account.

Step 5: Input Application ID & App Secret

Step 6: Change Page Tab Width to 810px

Click back into your app in Facebook Developers. Select the URL bar and push 'Enter' on your keyboard to refresh the page. Set the Facebook Tab width under App Integration. The Facebook tab can be set to 520px wide or the new 810px Timeline format.

Step 7: Publish as a Custom Campaign

In your Wildfire account select the promotion you wish to publish and in the final “Publish” step of your campaign-building, there will now be two sections: one titled Campaign Channels and one titled Custom Campaign Channels. Under the Custom Campaign Channels section (it will be listed first),click on the Publish Now button located next to the Facebook application. Agree to the disclaimer and click publish.

IMPORTANT: You will need to click on the "Fan Page" link to then add the custom campaign to your particular page.

Once you click "Fan Page" you will see this screen where you will be able to choose from the drop-down what page you actually want to add the campaign to:

Do not publish your promotion under the Campaign Channels tab—your customized campaign will notshow up if you do so.
